Celebrating the Legacy of Notts County FC

Back to News

As the world's oldest Football League club, Notts County's legacy is unmatched. The supporters club is proud to honour that history and carry it forward — from the black and white stripes to the roar of Meadow Lane.

Notts County Football Club holds a unique place in football history as the world's oldest Football League club, founded in 1862. The black and white stripes have been worn for over 160 years, and the Notts County Supporters Club has been proud to honour that legacy for nearly 80 of them.

The club's influence stretches far beyond Nottingham. Juventus famously adopted their black and white stripes after an early encounter with Notts County, making the Magpies one of the most influential clubs in the history of the global game.

For the supporters club, that legacy is not just history — it is a living responsibility. Every member, every away trip, every matchday gathering is part of a continuous thread that connects today's fans to those who stood on the terraces in the 1940s, the 1960s, and the 1980s.

As Notts County continues to rebuild and push forward, the supporters club is committed to carrying that legacy into the future. We are proud to represent the fans of the world's oldest Football League club — and we are just getting started.
